Persian Shield is a striking plant for containers and landscapes alike.  The thick deeply veined leaves are a rich plum color with near-black veining. The purple iridescent shimmer is beautiful as the sunlight hits it. Usually grows to 18 inches when mature and up to 36 inches in the right location, Persian Shield makes an excellent thriller in containers. 
The most vibrant coloration comes when planted in full sun, but Persian Shield’ also does well in a part shade location. This easy-to-grow annual is sought after by home gardeners as well as upscale garden designers.
