Popular since the 1920s, this is the golden version of the red California Wonder. Smooth, blocky and blunt-ended 5″ x 4″ fruits are thick-walled, very sweet and mild. Maturing from light-green to golden-yellow, the peppers grow on 22-26″ sturdy, upright plants that set continuously. Harvest in 62-73 days from transplant.

The pepper is native to Central and South America, where Christopher Columbus and other explorers discovered it and took it with them back to Europe at the end of the 16th century. They became called “pepper” in Spanish, or pimiento, because their spicy flavor brought the spice black pepper to mind.

Colorful golden bells that are very sweet and tasty. Gold peppers are superb for fresh eating, great for kitchen or market gardens. The productive plants produce early and are good for northern climates.
